For soundproofing we used 80mm Kilmat and Silex, Affiliate link https://amzn.to/3WqDnqC. We removed the front headliner so we could get good soundproofing and insulation up there. I did remove all the door panels; front door, sliding door, rear doors and added as much sound proofing and insulation as I could.
There is 6 plastic caps at the front of the headliner that need to be removed to access the screws. Using all different type of tools and techniques we tried for 30 minutes and only could get 2 of the caps out. I wanted to drop the headliner to do a thorough job soundproofing and insulating knowing this is a cold spot of the van. When we were slightly marring the van I decided to just drill a hole in the middle of the cap and pop them out, that took 2 seconds, wish I did this from the beginning. So now the caps need to be replaced. Ford currently doesn’t offer them so NISIN Co. is working on replacement caps……..COMING SOON!!!
For insulation we used 3M Thinsulate, SM-600L. I like the properties of thinsulate; provides both thermal and acoustic insulation, Hydrophobic fibers resist moisture, mold and mildew, R-value: 5.2 (at 1.65″), flame resistant. It was easy to install and cut, with a good pair of heavy duty scissors. We used 3M High Strength 90 spray glue to attach to van. Affiliate link https://amzn.to/4djMPTx
