To start the floors we cut strips of 3/8” 6lb minicell foam. This is a firm foam that brings the floor level with the raised ribs. After cutting the strips we sprayed glue them down in place.
For the base floor we used 3-sheets of 1 1/2” zip floor insulated sheathing. I went with the zip floors because I like they are exterior grade, the foam insulation is glued to the wood sheathing (no chance for squeaking). With myself at 5’6” and my wife 5’3” we could go with the thicker zip panel to get a R-6.6 insulation rating knowing we still would have plenty of head room. After spending a long time to make a cardboard template, making a step joint in the panels for a solid one piece connection, I cut out the panels and used constructive adhesive to fasten them down. They are super solid under are feet and haven’t moved a mm. I pretty much followed what, “Explorist Life” did for cutting and installing the zip panels.
And for the final floor layer we went with a continuous sheet of linoleum. The linoleum options today are endless with a more realistic look. With one sheet there are no seams and I was able to go up the walls a couple inches to make a bathtub effect. We used the recommended glue and I rented a floor roller. Definitely go light on the glue, it goes a looooong way, trust me on this one ;). The rented roller was great in getting the floor flat, glue spread out and work any air bubbles out, worth the $20 rental. Oh and don’t forget to cut the spare tire access hole :).
