Installed a Unaka roof rack. I liked that the solar panels are mounted tight together and flush with the top of the rack. Lots of options to mount stuff to the sides, ie: lights, awning, camera, etc.
Installed a Velit 12V A/C. Uses a standard 14”x14” opening. Originally wanted the A/C in the rear of the van but the design of the van, solar panels, vent, didn’t allow it to work out. The A/C in the middle worked out, we added some extra support underneath to help support the weight. I used a roof adaptor for both the vent and A/C to make a flat surface for mounting. Went with the Maxxair fan deluxe, Affiliate link https://amzn.to/4bS3VXt I did go with the manual instead of the powered opening vent, just one less thing to go wrong. Definitely recommend the 14”x14” adaptor to make a level mounting for the vent. Affiliate link https://ebay.us/KHXbVW
Installed 3-200W Rich solar panels. They fit perfectly on the Unaka rack. Will have 600W on the roof with 2-200W deployable solar panels on the ground for a total of 1000W. Affiliate link https://amzn.to/4c2y8U1
Windows, scary to cut into your brand new van, it gets easier after the first :). Used a nibbler to cut the holes, Affiliate link https://amzn.to/46mNnG2, little messy but works good and makes a smooth cut with very little burrs to file. Installed an AM-auto 1/2 slider bunk window and an AM-auto slider window on the driver side front (Large window). Went with the glue in windows vs the framed, I like the clean factory look. Definitely use an electric caulk gun, made the install easy. Affiliate link https://amzn.to/4fpwyyy
Installed the Velit 12V gas heater under the passenger seat, definitely a long and involved install. Relocated the inverter to the side of the seat base to make room. Dropped the fuel tank to install the smaller fuel pickup so the heater works properly at high altitude. Would of liked to use the factory quick tap port on top of the fuel tank but I live at 6200’. This is where we came up with the idea to make a vent adaptor, to be able to flat mount the vent on the angled seat base. We now offer this 3-D printed adaptor in our STORE. Easy install and looks great :). Regarding the heater operation, I have been using the heater a lot and its working great.
Removed the sliding door track and powder coated black. Nice when your son owns a CNC company that does powder coating :). We are working on offering this service of powder coating your sliding door track, coming soon. Very easy to remove and made the van look great.
After installing the heater and replacing the passenger seat, my son 6’ was sitting in the seat with it all the way back and was uncomfortable. Him sitting in the passenger or driver seat didn’t give him a lot of leg room, was unable to stretch out, and was difficult to swing his legs to access the back of the van. So with his engineering mind and owning a CNC business he started working on an extended seat rail to offer more comfort for all. We wanted something that looked factory, strong, safe, easy install, and after many proto-types we now offer our extended seat rails in our STORE, giving you 4 additional inches of room. What a difference they make :).
